Villa in Catalonia, Spain

Catalonia, Spain is a beautiful and historic region of northeastern Spain with its own unique identity. This region includes Barcelona as well as the coastal town of Sitges, which lies southwest of Barcelona. Sitges offers gorgeous views of the Mediterranean sea and a fun and vibrant nightlife. It is best known for its film festival, Carnivale, and people from all over the world travel to attend this event every spring. In Catalonia, it has over fifteen beautiful beaches, some of which are family friendly while others boast at being clothing optional.

Our gorgeous villa was located just outside of Sitges, which was only a short taxi ride away. The villa had such beautiful greenery and character. The outside patios were shaded under a wooden roof with rattan light fixtures and plenty of seating for guests. The overflowing ivy engulfed the exterior of the villa, covering the architecture in a soft, living blanket.

The pool was a beautiful Mediterranean blue, and the hot tub was located up the stone stairs with jets that lived up to their name. Spending time swimming laps feels luxurious as the sun sets behind you. A small cooking station and bar offers a truly “picture perfect” view. Many guests do a double take when they realize it is not a painting but the real life scene.

Exploring the villa was fun, and you could find little gems tucked into the nooks and crannies of every space. Small details like candles and statues added to the zen calm that should be part of every vacation.

Finally, it was time for a premium Spanish meal created by a true Spanish chef and friend. Menu included Spanish cheese and fruit, fresh seafood, spiced mushrooms and artichokes. Every bite was fresh and healthy, and everyone had full bellies by blue hour. Conversations and wine both flowed generously! And always, always give some scraps to the shy stray cat.
